What is Tennis SENsation?

Tennis SENsation is a free tennis training program for children in the autistic spectrum. 

 

The first cycle of the program commenced on the 28th of August 2022 for 8 weeks of 1-hour session per week and ended on the 19th of October 2022. It was located at the IRC.

​

The second cycle of the program commences on the 3rd of December and will be 8 weeks of 1 hour sessions per week with a Christmas break in between at the Hong Kong Country Club.

Tennis SENsation is the first non-profit tennis project in Hong Kong to work with children in the autistic spectrum.

​

The program was initiated by Etienne Lee, a national level junior tennis player, as a way to give back to society.

​

A special thanks to various individuals and organisations for their immediate support to make this idea into reality. Our team now comprises of professional tennis/ sports coaches, special needs educators and youth volunteers. 

Aim

To enhance the life of children in the autistic spectrum through tennis, giving participants the opportunity to grow and learn whilst enjoying fitness and exercise and having fun!

To provide an opportunity for the tennis community and volunteers to give back to society and to foster better understanding of children with special needs.

How tennis can benefit children in the autistic spectrum?

  • Tennis can improve motor skills and coordination.

  • Tennis can increase overall fitness level.

  • Children can learn about the importance of hydration and nutrition, which is particularly important to those in the autistic spectrum

  • Other benefits include developing discipline, reducing stress, better language and social skills, better auditory and visual processing skills.

  • And it is FUN!
